A BULAWAYO woman who is accusing a company director of reneging on a promise to marry her, is now demanding $3 000 a month maintenance.

Ms Jade Falon Jeffery, age not given, of 19 Pennith Road, Morningside wants $3 000 a month maintenance for herself and her one-year-old daughter.

Ms Jeffery and Mr Lyle Ashley Fisher, the director of Belmont Tyres, have been co-habiting and have a daughter together.

According to her summons, Ms Jeffery says Mr Fisher kicked her and the daughter out of house number 2 Blake Road Malindela in February.

"He is the biological father of my daughter and I want maintenance backdated to February this year when Lyle kicked me and my daughter out of his house following a breach of promise to marry me. Since that time I and my daughter have not been getting anything. We have no house to stay and we can hardly meet our daily needs. We have lost the standard of lifestyle we used to enjoy," she said

Ms Jeffery said her daughter was still young to be separated from her parents as she was still in nappies and in need of extra care.

She told Bulawayo magistrate Ms Charity Maphosa sitting at the Maintenance Court on Friday that she was undergoing therapeutic counselling for stress and emotional abuse inflicted on her and her daughter by Mr Fisher.

Ms Jeffery is demanding $650 for rent, $220 for water and electricity bills, $500 for food and $800 for clothes, toiletries, fuel, education, medical aid and legal aid policy. She also wants money for insurance, phone bills, domestic worker and other emergencies totalling $650.

The hearing continues on Wednesday.
