THE woman, who was seriously injured after being hit by Warriors legend Peter Ndlovu's car reportedly being driven by someone believed to be his daughter, has been identified as Thobekile Nkala.
Nkala (30) sustained serious bilateral ankle fractures and a skull fracture after Ndlovu's Navara suddenly climbed onto the side pavement and hit her together with two other women at the corner of Leopold Takawira Avenue and Josiah Tongogara Street in Bulawayo on Thursday afternoon last week.
Eyewitnesses said the young woman driving the vehicle with South African registration plates appeared to have lost control resulting in it careening off the road and hitting the three women.
They were trapped under the car and passers-by had to lift the vehicle and lay it on its side to rescue the women.
The women were all rushed the United Bulawayo Hospitals where Nkala was admitted into the intensive care unit (ICU) with serious ankle and skull fractures.
Sources said Nkala had now been moved from the ICU to a general ward, but indicated that her life was still in danger.
"She has been only moved from the ICU because she can now breathe on her own, but she is still very unwell because a skull fracture is not a minor injury," said the source.
"Nkala has been moved from the ICU so that they can start treating her. She is in a very bad shape and hallucinates when you talk to her.
"She barely recalls anything. When you talk to her, she keeps repeating the same words. At this point in time, she is very ill and confused and still requires intensive care," the source said.
