BULAWAYO businessman Javann Ncube - owner of Ocean Park trading as Tashas Supermarkets - is in a messy divorce wrangle with his estranged wife with the couple accusing each other of cheating.
Ncube, of Number 45 Whitesh Way in Burnside, has since filed for a decree of divorce at the High Court in Bulawayo (HC2210/13, XREF 2234/13) against his wife Nonyamezelo Ncube who he accuses of abusing their finances with different boyfriends.
According to the application, each party claimed that their six-year-old marriage had irretrievably broken down and there was no hope for any restoration.
The couple was married under Chapter 5:11 of the Marriages Act in July 2007 and has three minor children aged nine, five and three.
Ncube in his application said he was finding it difficult to accept Nonyamezelo's extra-marital and adulterous relationships with different men she was allegedly squandering money with.
"The plaintiff is praying for a decree of divorce and ancillary relief. The defendant has on several occasions been involved in adulterous and extra-marital affairs with various men. That is why I sent her back to her parents," said Ncube.
"She has been abusing finances with boyfriends."
Nonyamezelo is reportedly now staying in Old Lobengula, House Number 56963/2 and indications are that some of the boyfriends are Ncube's friends who she would pamper with money.
Ncube said his wife was violent towards him and was in the habit of always embarrassing him in public.
He said at some point, she attempted to commit suicide on two occasions over marital problems, adding that she was now a risk to him and the children.
"There is no love anymore," Ncube said.
Ncube wants the court to award immovable property to the couple's children and to have its movable property, mostly household items to be shared equally.
The property includes a four plate stove, fridge, two lounge suites, six piece kitchen table, two microwaves, three piece bedroom suite, kitchen utensils, two television sets, four beds, two home theatre systems, gym equipment, microblender, dressing table and a DStv PVR decoder.
The woman is claiming half of the property and a Toyota car and wants her husband to be given the other half and a Ford Ranger.
However, Ncube has challenged the claim against the two vehicles, saying they are not part of matrimonial property.
He said Nonyamezelo cannot claim any car because it was never acquired when their marriage subsisted.
Each of them wants custody of the children.
In her opposing application, Nonyamezelo argued that Ncube deliberately left out some of the property when he submitted the inventory to court.
She claimed that he was abusive and wants divorce only to spite her as he is allegedly having an affair with his personal assistant she identified as Rose.
"He beat me on 2 September 2013 and locked me in the house. Later I broke window panes and fled to Whitestone Primary School where I sought refuge," said Nonyamezelo through her lawyers, Dube-Tachiona and Tsvangirai Legal Practitioners.
"The divorce summons are meant to spite me because he sent me back to my parents' home in Lobengula. He is the one having a relationship with his PA Rose whom I am suing for adultery and I got a protection order on 4 September 2013.
"I have lost all love and affection for the plaintiff who has been abusive. He has illicit sexual liaisons with several strange women and I cannot remain his wife."
Ncube's supermarkets dominated the market starting in 2008 at the height of the economic challenges although many of them have since closed.
He also has a milling company in Belmont.
