ONE of the Nkulumane grissly murder victims, Lokukhanya Ncube, who was killed together with a boyfriend identified as Mthabisi - a tout reportedly from Magwegwe - was buried at Luveve Cemetery yesterday.
Relatives have revealed that the woman got involved in a love triangle after she told them she had recently met a cross-border driver from Gwanda who was spoiling her with money.
Mthabisi, said to be a tout with commuter omnibuses plying the City-Magwegwe route, was her long-time boyfriend.
Ncube was last seen with Mthabisi on Sunday last week before their bodies were found on Thursday with throats slit in a drain in Nkulumane 12.
Speaking in an interview with Southern Eye, Ncube's cousin Shelter Gumbo said on April 16 the now deceased phoned her with the news of a new lover, a malayitsha (cross-border transporter) from Gwanda who gave her money to buy some clothes and have her hair done.
"Lokukhanya phoned me on the April 16 telling me of her new boyfriend, umalayitsha from Gwanda, and said he had given her money to buy some clothes from Nkulumane Sekusile complex.
"I can show you the clothes which she bought," she said.
A neighbour who did not want to be named said he suspected the malayitsha was behind the death of the two.
"I think umalayitsha murdered the two because you only see this type of killing on television.
"We hear of such killings in countries like South Africa," the neighbour said.
The woman was naked while the man was wearing a pair of jeans and purple sweater.
The bodies were dumped in the channel at the corner of Intemba and Rangemore roads.
Police said no arrests had been made by the weekend and investigations were still underway.
