'Jarzin Man' to be buried in Bulawayo

Former Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) presenter, Lazarus Tembo who died in the United Kingdom will be buried in Bulawayo on a date still to be advised.
His brother Million Tembo told Radio VOP that repatriation arrangements are in progress in the UK while burial arrangements are being finalised in Zimbabwe.
Tembo grew up at Cement Siding near Bulawayo where his father worked for many years and attended Luveve Secondary School in the City of Kings.
He spent most of his UK stay in Leicester.
His death was announced on Wednesday on Facebook by his former colleague, the former ZBC disk jockey Eric "Knight Rider" Knight.
Knight wrote on his page, "Ladies and gentlemen, comrades and friends, media colleagues and fellow Zimbabweans, it is with great sadness and sorrow that I share the news of the death of one of the finest broadcasters the country has ever produced, Mr Lazarus Tembo."
He said popularly known as 'Lazzie T', Tembo passed away on Monday in the United Kingdom.
"Lazzie was the face behind the ZTV programme 'Mvenge Mvenge' and the voice behind the programme 'Radio 2 Top 20' before I took over both shows," Knight said.
He was also known for his 6.45am daily quiz programme 'Jarzin Man' on Radio 2, sponsored by a downtown group of supermarkets, which since the early 1970s had been presented by Wellington Mbofana, Forbes Kahari and Admire Taderera respectively.
At the then Radio 2 located at Mbare Studios in the capital's oldest high density suburb Tembo known in other circles as "Msakazi" worked with Joseph Panganai Mukaronda, Knight, Dins Patrick Mutume, Lisbern Nasasara, Sam Sibanda, Timothy "TZ" Makoni, Brenda Moyo, Tildah Moyo, Killian Butu, Kingsley Sibanda, Loveness Muchina, Praxedes "PJ" Jeremiah and many others.
Tembo later joined Gramma Records where his colleagues included music producers and promoters like Tymon Mabaleka, Bothwell Nyamhondera, Emmanuel Vhori and Steve Roskilly. He interacted with many popular musicians like Biggie Tembo and Elias Musakwa who performed at his wedding.
