Late Bulawayo Town Clerk, Middleton Nyoni
City of Bulawayo Town Clerk Mr Middleton Nyoni has died.
According to a family member, Nyoni died on Sunday afternoon in Harare where he had gone for treatment.
Nyoni has been on sick leave from work since August 2014. He has been to India and South Africa seeking treatment for a liver complication.
While on sick leave Councillors remained divided with a section of council demanding that he be retired from work on grounds on illness while the other was against the move citing existing labour regulations that would not allow for his retirement.
Details of the funeral arrangements are yet to be made available as the family is still in Harare making arrangements to ferry the deceased to Bulawayo. Council Chamber Secretary Mrs Sikhangele Zhou has been acting town clerk during Nyoni's long sick leave.
