Council conduct pest control

Bulawayo City Council embarked in the pest control programme in the past months as per report by the  Director of Health Services Zanele Hwalima.

According to council report the unit continued to monitor streams and apply larvicide to affected areas.

"The following areas had been visited during the month: Nketa 9, Emganwini, Tshabalala Police stream, Tshabalala, Phekiwe, Sidojiwe, Pumula South streams, Pumula North streams, Masilela, Konron, Luveve SDA, Richmond, Cowdray Park, Glenville, Entumbane, Sizinda, Glengary, Matsheumhlophe, Bulawayo Spruit and Hillside streams," reads the council minutes.

"Fourteen (14) litres of larvicide (temephos) and 96 x 500g of bio larvicide had been used. Thirty (30) residents had paid for and were serviced for intradomiciliary residual spraying using 68 sachets of insecticide (lambdacyhalothrin). Eighteen (18) mosquito complaints had been received and investigated."

The minutes states that no activities had been carried out this month.

"Nine interdepartmental requisitions had been received and attended to during the month," reads the minutes.
