The razing down of Jowa's house of Murewa in Mashonaland province in a suspected incident of political arson is a regrettable development which cannot be condoned. It is believed Jowa is a Mujuru's People First supporter.
It is imperative that our society should develop tolerance and respect each other's difference in political views in our democratic society. Similarly, it is imperative that we desist from unnecessary mud splashing on each other. This comes in the wake of some oppositional political activists that accuse ZANU-PF supporters as the perpetrators of the afore-mentioned incident. Such public statements are reckless and irresponsible on the part of whoever said it.
This is a clear-cut testimony of hate speech which normally degenerates into political violence potential. These allegations were leveled without availing tangible evidence, neither were there any adequate investigations carried out to authenticate the validity of such claims.
Rugare Gumbo, who is the believed to be the official spokesperson of People First political project, speaking to Studio 7 rejected the assertions, that the victim, Jowa, belonged to his their political movement. This makes the claim a hoax which amounts to cheap politicking.
However, all citizens are urged to be vigilante and keep themselves on the watch out so that they keep all illicit political activities under surveillance. They should report all suspicious political events immediately to the police.
Members of the neighbourhood watch committees are also challenged to step up efforts to curtail such developments and nip all violent activities in the bud.
