The Harare Residents Trust (HRT) has said it is engaged in the profiling Councillors in order for residents to know their leader and the developments done in their Ward.
HRT Programmes Intern Miss Mitchell Chigunduru (MC) interviewed Ward 4 Councilor Martin Matinyanya (MM) (36).
The trust said Matinyanya was born in Karoi and he is from Hurungwe.
"He is married and has four children. He did his primary school at Chikangwe and Gwinyai Primary Schools, before enrolling for his secondary education at Mbare High School. He grew up in Magaba and currently he is living at Nenyere Flats block 11C10, Magaba in Mbare," the trust said.
When the trust asked him where he was working before becoming a councillor he said he joined Zanu PF when he was Form Two and became the Chairman for Youths, Branch Chief for Youths, Branch Chief Security of the District, and Chief Security Youth Wing for Mbare 7 District
"I was born in a family of war veterans and that heavily influenced me to become a politician," he said that was what influenced him to join politics.
Harare Trust asked him what were his notable achievements since he got into office.
"I work with the ward development committee and together we have achieved the following; In Shawasha Block 1 to 12 there was no tap water in the Hostel. We fitted in new pipes and put six taps per floor. Water is now accessed in the building. Residents in Tagarika Flats for the past 15 years where not receiving water in their flat but we managed to restore the pipes and water is now accessed in the flat," he said.
"Harare South Road is being resurfaced. The ward has 22 boreholes 16 which were constructed using the 10% retention fund, 2 boreholes were donated by the Member of Parliament and the other 6 were donated by donors. We are re-roofing Flats block 10, 13 and 11."
He also said Chiedza Primary School was about to be shut down due to the infrastructure of toilets, the Ministry donated 6 toilets.
"Still in process to build shades for people to work in Mupedzanhamo Phase 2. Phase 1 at Siyaso Complex is in progress of putting electricity. We donated balls and a trophy for football teams at ward level," he said.
"The ward is in need of development but the Council does not have money. We try to get 10% retention fund but you will have to spend days at the City Council to get the money. So Councillors combine their quotations together and wait for the money."
The Councillor said it would be the choice of the people for him to continue being a Councillor.
"If anyone in Ward 4 faces any challenge please call me on 0772 583 857," he said.
