Former MDC T ward 6 councillor Chindedza Chigwajara was inaugurated as substantive Chief Mutsiwo in Mbire by Rural Development, Promotion and Preservation of culture and Heritage Abedinico Ncube on Wednesday.

The Mutsiwo chieftainship fell vacant after the death of Francis Chirume in 2011 hence his son was acting up until the appointment of Chigwajara.

The appointment of Chigwajara was being frustrated by a number of big wigs in ZANU PF Mashonaland Central province.

The Minister of state for Mashonaland Central advocate Martin Dinha told the gathering that Chigwajara had repented and big wigs tried to tarnish him.

"There are people who were frustrating the inauguration of this chieftainship because of their political reasons.

"I urge people of Mbire to stop labelling people who hold divergent views from yours.

"The new chief is nolonger a member of MDC T or gamatox as alleged.

"He was vetted and you heard him confess that he is no longer a member of those formations," said Dinha.

Sources who spoke to Bulawayo24.com said the chieftainship should not be based on political grounds in societies.

"These chiefs should be neutral how can you say if a chief is from a opposition party that person does not qualify that is very wrong already they will be bias in the ruling because of political muscle," said the source.

The new chief Mutsiwo was voted councillor for MDC T in 2008.
