Cruel step mum fined

A 29-YEAR-OLD Granary woman was fined $80 for ill-treatig and failing to provide adequate food for her step-son.
Molleen Manyenyezero pleaded guilty when she appeared before Mbare magistrate Gladys Moyo charged with ill-treating or neglect of children and small persons.
It was proved that since Manyenyezero became a step mother to the young 16 year-old, she was ill-treating him.
She would not give him either care or food and she was now refusing to pay his school fees since she is the one always in possession of the banks cards for her husband who is also the complainant's father.
Such kind of ill-treatment saw Manyenyezero being dragged to court where she could not admit to the offence but was later found guilty by the court.
She was reeve $80 or 20 days in prison.
Circumstances are that during the period from 2011 to March 22 this year the accused person failed to provide adequate food for the complainant whom she stays with.
The court proved that in most cases the complaint goes to school without eating anything.
Manyenyezero takes advantage of the absence of the complainant's father who is residing in Mwenezi where he is currently employed and sometimes returns home after three months.
The court further proved that the situation at one point worsened to the extent that the complainant ran away from home.
A complaint was lodged with the police leading to Manyenymero's arrest.
