Police details from the Law and Order Section of the ZRP, today interrogated the editor of NewsDay, Wisdom Mdzungairi and journalist Everson Mushava.

The questioning was in connection with a story recently published in NewsDay in which former ZANU-PF official, Godfrey Tsenengamu, is alleged to have called on war veterans to use unconstitutional means to topple President Mugabe.

The ZRP officers wanted to know what methods the media organization used to gather the information. The journalists referred the police to their lawyers.

Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ) Secretary General Foster Dongozi condemned the questioning of the journalists saying it was an attempt to intimidate and muzzle them from doing their work.

"Police should conduct their own investigations without trying to use journalists to do their work for them," said Dongozi.
