Man (50) rapes minor, bribes eyewitness with hen

A 50-year-old Muzarabani man was arrested yesterday for allegedly raping a minor before conniving with a witness to sweep the case under the carpet by giving him a traditional hen.
Sources close to investigations allege Betserai Mapuwei of Chiwenga village Muzarabani is in police custody after raping a 16-year-old girl.
"Sometime in January this year Mapuwei demanded sex from the minor who turned him down but he forced the girl to sleep on the ground and removed her panties before raping her.
"Last week Sunday the accused met the complaint around 16:00hours at a millet field where he removed his clothes and grabbed the complainant demanding sex," revealed the source.
"Takudzwa Munda arrived and rescued the complainant, the accused promised to buy Munda's silence with a traditional hen, which he received and kept quit for some time only to tell a member of police constabulary in confidentiality.
The police constabulary took a colleague and proceeded to Mapuwei's homestead where they arrested him."
