42 people died and 246 others were injured in separate road accidents across the country during the Easter holiday.
The latest death toll is an increase from 22 people who were killed and 105 injured in accidents during the same period last year.
Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi said by Monday 338 accidents had been recorded countrywide with 25 of them being fatal.
"Indeed the death toll is not all that entertaining and we hope for better movements of traffic in the future," he said.
The more than 50 percent rise in this year's Easter death toll compared to last year has also seen authorities extending their mandate in avoiding further accidents.
"We anticipate further growth in terms of the death toll by the end of the day as more people flock back home and we urge them to exercise caution when driving their cars," said Chief Superintendent Nyathi.
With all indications pointing to heavy traffic as people return from various destinations, the importance of exercising restraint and caution on the roads cannot be overemphasized for both motorists and pedestrians.
