A GURUVE man raped and grisly murdered a female prison officer before stealing her vehicle at a workshop.
Stancelus Mashayamombe, 34, committed the heinous offence when he was left with six months of the sentence he was serving at Karoi Prison over an attempted murder case.
Stancelus, popularly known as Newsnet, was sentenced to life in prison upon re-arrest and is among 2520 prisoners at Chikurubi Maximum Prison.
"I regret my actions. I failed to honour the trust that was given to me by prison officers to work at one of the offices repairing tractors," said Stancelus.
"I had a chance to mix with the community since I was only left with six months to be released over an attempted murder case where I was sentenced to three and half years.
"On the day in question, one of the guys I met in the community gave me dagga and I failed to return to prison on time and was drunk when I returned.
"I strangled the female officer with a rope after raping her and took her vehicle and went away.
"They tracked me and I was arrested and found with the vehicle. This woman was close to me as well as her husband and I cannot explain what exactly influenced me to commit that offence.
"I admitted to the crime and I am now serving a life sentence but I blame my emotions that led me to commit the first offence.
"I caught my wife pants down with a man in Mabvuku following a tip off after she lied to me that she was visiting there for a hair do.
"In anger I took an iron bar and struck my wife's lover on his head and I regret that action because it has cost me my freedom," said Stancelus.
His wish is to meet his relatives who last visited him in 2014 so that they settle the murder case with relatives of the deceased.
"My relatives are no longer visiting me because they were mistreated when I was at Karoi Prison and I wish my relatives find ways to settle my case with the officer I killed.
"Inini ndave muhusungwa handichagona kunotaurirana nehama dzemunhu wandakauraya asi hama dzangu dzinokwanisa kunovaona voripa ngozi yacho nekuti inobata dzinza rose.
"If my relatives get this message I beg them to visit me so that I discuss with them over this case and find ways to repay them," he said.
Stancelus claimed he has a gift of copying people's voices especially radio presenters like Richmond Siyakurima, Charles Mabika and many others which made fellow inmates call him Newsnet.
