The Ministry of Information, publicity and Broadcasting has announced that President Emmerson Mnangagwa is heading to the West African country of Guinea where he is expected to sign number several agreements.
"His Excellency, The President of Zimbabwe will be travelling on a State Visit to The Republic of Guinea Conakry from the 5th to the 7th of November. As part of his engagements, he will tour several dams and construction sites. There will also be a Signing Ceremony for several Agreements," the Ministry said.
The statements however drew the anger of Zimbabweans who accused the President of globe trotting instead of fixing local problems.
A Harare Resident Amanda Chirume told Bulawayo24 News that, "The President is being inconsiderate of us citizens. There are a number of challenges that the country is facing and all he can do is to fly around using our money signing deals that never come to pass."
Civic Society activist Ndodana Moyo lamented the continuous failure of the new dispensation to fix the ever-increasing challenges. "In November last year we celebrated the end of Mugabe thinking we are getting Independence, but it seems during Mugabe's era things were better than now. We are now suffering than ever, yet the President is silent. He only writes columns in newspapers and flies around with taxpayers money instead of fixing the economy."
Former President Mugabe used to be criticised for globe-trotting and gobbling the national purse by carrying a huge entourage where ever he went. Tanzania's Mugufuli has been hailed as one of the most progressive Presidents who cut on globe-trotting.
