HARARE - The first son of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, Edwin and Diana Wallah tied the knot on Saturday at a private ceremony in Umwinsdale, Harare.
Members of the MDC-T standing committee, close friends and relatives attended the ceremony, witnessed by the Prime Minister and his fiancée Elizabeth Macheka and the bride's family, sources said.
The bride reportedly met the groom in Australia while pursuing studies there.
Tsvangirai has six children - Edwin, Garikai, Vimbai, Rumbidzai, and twins Millicent and Vincent.
He has one grandchild Gamuchirai. His youngest grandchild, Shawn, son of Garikai, drowned in a pool at the PM's Strathaven home on April 4, 2009.
Edwin is just the latest of Tsvangirai's kids to wed. Last year, Vimbai, the Premier's first daughter married her long-time boyfriend, Apostle Batsirai Java, a pastor in the Tabernacle of Grace Ministry Church.
Rumbidzai also wed earlier last year. The father has gone to great lengths to keep his family out of public spotlight, but struggled to keep the lid on his son's nuptials as details about the wedding filtered through.
In spite of his efforts, Tsvangirai has not been able to entirely quiet the rumours of his son's wedding.
Edwin has been a pillar of support for his dad. The Prime Minister was not immediately available for comment, but a senior official said there was a "convivial" atmosphere at the wedding.
Sadly, Edwin's mum the late Susan Tsvangirai nee Mhundwa, who was affectionately known as "Amai President", who died on March 6, 2009 in a tragic road collision en-route to Buhera thus was not able to witness the ceremony.
