Zanu-PF has gagged all its members from discussing the controversial succession issue as long as President Robert Mugabe is still in office.
Party's secretary general Didymus Mutasa said; "even in Britain, Prince William does not go around saying I will succeed the queen."
"The position is as Africans we cannot succeed a chief who is still there. There should be no talk of succession in Zanu-PF, it causes some of us in the leadership to be embarrassed," said Mutasa.
Mutasa said those members who dare oppose the directive would be punished. He said the issues has divided the party and enemies are taking advantage of it.
Mugabe has on several occasions said if he will steps down now, his party will collapse due to divisions.
Mugabe has been leader of Zanu-PF for almost four decades.
