THE Government has extended the emergency road rehabilitation programme to access roads leading to traditional leaders' homes in Binga.
The programme which will see access roads leading to chief's homesteads in the entire Matabeleland North province rehabilitated has been rolled out through the District Development Fund (DDF).
This comes at a time when the state of roads which led to traditional leaders' homesteads is in a deplorable state.
"I would like to acknowledge that some work has been done by DDF but it is a far cry from the actual requirements, in terms of coverage I am pleased that this programme has been launched to address those gaps," said Honourable Richard Moyo, Matabeleland North Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution.
"This initiative is not meant to benefit the traditional Chiefs only but everyone within the community in line with the country's Vision 2030 where no one will be left behind in building our nation," said Christopher Sumba, DDF Permanent Secretary in Office of the President and Cabinet.
A motorised grader to carry out the works has also been handed over to the province.
