The Nomination Court is scheduled to convene in Harare and Bulawayo tomorrow to receive candidate submissions for the by-elections scheduled for December 9. Among the candidates participating in the by-elections, Pedzisai "Scott" Sakupwanya, who aspires to represent Mabvuku-Tafara, will resume his campaign for the constituency.

These by-elections were triggered by Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda's announcement of vacancies in Parliament due to multiple recalls initiated by Sengezo Tshabangu, the self-declared interim secretary-general of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

President Emmerson Mnangagwa designated December 9 as the by-election date via Statutory Instrument 188 of 2023.

Efforts by the recalled CCC MPs to seek redress in the High Court were unsuccessful when Justice Munamato Mutevedzi ruled in favor of Tshabangu over the weekend.

The recalled CCC MPs include Morgan Ncube (Beitbridge West), Prince Dubeko Sibanda (Binga North), Nicola Jane Watson (Bulawayo South), Pashor Raphael Sibanda (Cowdray Park), Ereck Gono (Lobengula-Magwegwe), and Bright Moyo Vanya (Lupane East).

Additionally, Febion Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi (Mabvuku-Tafara), Desmond Makaza (Mpopoma-Mzilikazi), and Obert Manduna (Nketa) were also recalled.

Kufahakutizwi, who narrowly defeated Zanu-PF's Sakupwanya in the Mabvuku-Tafara constituency during the August 23 and 24 harmonized elections, is expected to face a rematch as Sakupwanya files his nomination papers on Tuesday.

In an interview, Sakupwanya expressed his commitment to serving the people of Mabvuku-Tafara, regardless of the election outcome, stating, "Elections come and go, and that does not stop me from supporting and providing for my people whenever I have something to offer." He also assured that he remains closely connected with his constituents, and he is determined to file his nomination papers tomorrow.
