'We're clueless on hippos deaths so far,' ZimParks

The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management (ZimParks) has announced that it has no clue (at the moment) on the cause for deaths of eighteen hippos in the Sapi Safari area and Chirundu over the last three months.
In a statement, ZimParks spokesperson, Tinashe Farawo announced that the organisation has however taken samples for lab testing.
"Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority is saddened to report the deaths of 18 hippos in the Sapi Safari Area and one in Chirundu over the last 3 months," Farawo said.
"The Authority is carrying out investigations with various partners to ascertain the cause of deaths. Samples have been taken and sent for lab testing and we are waiting for the results," Farawo added.
Meanwhile, the ZimParks has further assured that the health and safety of wildlife remain its top priority, and they are committed to providing thorough updates as new information becomes available.
