In a bold move set to redefine urban mobility in Zimbabwe, Dr. Paul Tungwarara, the Presidential Investment Advisor to the President, has unveiled Tap and Go, a cutting-edge taxi service poised to challenge established industry players such as InDrive.

The new service leverages a locally developed mobile application that connects users with internet-enabled vehicles, promising a seamless, connected, and convenient commuting experience. The platform allows customers to book rides directly from their smartphones, with drivers arriving at their exact location  -  whether at home or in the office  -  in minutes.

Speaking at the launch event in Harare, Dr. Tungwarara emphasized the service's potential to modernize the transportation landscape and create employment opportunities.

"Tap and Go is more than a transport solution; it's a commitment to innovation, empowerment, and service excellence. We are introducing world-class convenience right here in Zimbabwe," he said.

The app offers users a choice between three premium ride options  -  Platinum, Gold, and Silver  -  tailored to meet a variety of customer preferences and budgets. From executive rides for business professionals to more affordable options for daily commutes, Tap and Go aims to serve a broad segment of the population.

What sets Tap and Go apart is its focus on local development and integration. The vehicles are equipped with modern technology to support navigation, real-time tracking, and safety features, ensuring a reliable user experience. The company also highlighted plans for driver training programs and future integration with mobile payment platforms, including the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency.

Market analysts view the entry of Tap and Go as a significant shake-up in Zimbabwe's ride-hailing ecosystem, potentially driving improvements in service delivery, pricing, and technological standards.

With its formal rollout beginning in Harare and Bulawayo, the company aims to expand to other major cities in the coming months. The development is expected to bring stiff competition to existing services and elevate the standard of urban transport across the country.
