Authorities have launched an investigation following a weekend break-in at the offices of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe, during which several documents and laptops were reportedly stolen.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the probe, noting that the intruders appeared to have detailed knowledge of the office layout and entry points.

"At this moment, I can't disclose what was stolen as investigations are ongoing. However, it appears that the intruder or intruders had familiarity with the office setup and entry points," Nyathi said.

The incident echoes previous security breaches, including last year's break-in at Deputy Tourism and Hospitality Minister Tongai Mnangagwa's office and security lapses at his cousin Kudakwashe David Mnangagwa's Borrowdale residence.

In a separate development, Nyathi confirmed that Elephant Lodge in Murambinda, Manicaland, owned by presidential adviser Paul Tungwarara, was destroyed by fire on 27 September. Investigations by a forensic team concluded that the blaze was caused by an electrical fault.

The ZRP has assured the public that investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
