The Young Generation for Economic Development (YGED), an affiliate strongly aligned with President Emmerson Mnangagwa's Vision 2030 agenda, has begun making strategic moves as it positions itself for national youth mobilisation and empowerment.
According to the organisation's national chairperson, Nyasha Ziko, YGED seeks to empower and educate young Zimbabweans, promoting their active participation in shaping the country's economic and social development under the President's leadership.
“The organisation aims to foster a sense of patriotism and preserve national heritage. Our objectives include equipping young people with problem‑solving skills to support ZANU‑PF's goals, formulating policies that promote innovation and equality, implementing evaluation methods that create learning opportunities, and encouraging civic engagement through education and community involvement,” Ziko said.
He added that the target age group ranges from 13 to 45 years, with an emphasis on informed participation and responsible decision‑making. Minors, he said, are expected to have guidance from parents or guardians.
YGED is currently active in Masvingo and Harare and plans to expand its structures to all provinces across the country.
