Two bouncers and a waitress at Khama Night Club in Chisipite, Harare, appeared in court facing allegations of assaulting and stealing US$2 000 from a patron.
The accused - Knowledge Mashamba (40), head of security, Keen Mutombwa (35), a bouncer, and Sasha Nhandara (23), a waitress - appeared before a Harare magistrate on charges of assault and theft and were remanded out of custody to February 11.
According to the State, the incident occurred in the early hours of November 9, 2025. The complainant, Gabriel Gwaze (45), had visited Khama Night Club with friends and, at around 4:00 am while leaving, was told by Nhandara that he had an outstanding bill of US$270.
The court heard that a misunderstanding followed, during which Mutombwa and Nhandara allegedly pushed Gwaze onto a sofa. The argument reportedly continued for over thirty minutes before Marimo — who remains at large — allegedly manhandled Gwaze into a small passage where the accused persons assaulted him.
Prosecutors allege that the three took advantage of Gwaze's intoxicated state, searched him and stole US$2 000 from his person. Gwaze reportedly paid the original bill after retrieving US$300 from another pocket, receiving US$30 in change.
It was only after he was escorted out of the club by Mashamba and Mutombwa that Gwaze discovered the US$2 000 had been stolen. The complainant subsequently reported the matter to the police.
No money has been recovered, and the accused remain in remand as the case continues.
