Zimbabwe Warriors defender Munashe Garananga has completed a deadline-day move from Danish giants FC Copenhagen to Scottish Premiership side Hibernian.
The 25-year-old centre-back has joined the Edinburgh-based club on a six-month loan deal that will see him remain at Hibs until the end of the season in June.
Garananga is one of six players recruited by Hibernian during the January transfer window as the club seeks to bolster its squad for the second half of the campaign. The Zimbabwe international arrives with solid European experience, having previously played in the Belgian Pro League with KV Mechelen before securing a move to FC Copenhagen.
His addition is expected to strengthen Hibernian's defence, bringing both physical presence and composure as the club pushes for a strong finish in the league.
Reflecting on the move, Garananga described the uncertainty and speed of deadline day dealings. He said the transfer materialised late, with his agent working until the final hours, and admitted he was unsure where he would end up. The call confirming the move came suddenly in the afternoon while he was resting, leaving little time to process before taking up the opportunity.
Garananga becomes the second Zimbabwean footballer playing in Scotland this season, joining fellow Warriors international Tawanda Maswanhise, who turns out for Motherwell FC.
Hibernian are currently fifth in the Scottish Premiership standings with 36 points, seven behind fourth-placed Motherwell, as the race for European qualification intensifies in the second half of the season.
