Internal divisions within the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in Insiza North have reportedly led to a wave of defections to Zanu PF, with disgruntled members citing leadership failures and ongoing factional disputes at ward level.
The developments point to deepening instability within the opposition party's grassroots structures, where internal conflicts are said to be weakening organisation and eroding supporter confidence.
Several members from ward 23 - including Butholizwe Dube, Thandiwe Ncube and Elton Moyo - have confirmed their departure from CCC to join Zanu PF.
The trio said their decision was driven by frustration over what they described as persistent infighting, lack of leadership direction, and failure to address community concerns.
Dube said the situation in the party had become untenable due to prolonged inactivity and internal divisions.
"Constant divisions and factionalism within CCC in Insiza have made it impossible to trust the party anymore," he said.
Ncube echoed similar concerns, saying supporters had been left without meaningful representation or engagement from local leadership.
"We expected representation, but what we have seen is silence, inaction and endless squabbles," she said.
Moyo added that continued factionalism had destroyed confidence in the party's ability to deliver.
"We are joining Zanu PF because we want progress, not excuses or internal fights," he said.
The defectors claimed more members could follow in the coming weeks if the internal disputes are not resolved.
Efforts to obtain comment from local councillor Nomsa Ncube were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
The CCC has faced prolonged internal tensions following a split linked to disputes over parliamentary control, which intensified after self-proclaimed secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu asserted authority over party structures. The resulting rift with founding leader Nelson Chamisa has contributed to ongoing factional battles and organisational fragmentation within the opposition party.
