Suspended Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim treasurer-general Mbuso Siso has withdrawn his urgent High Court application contesting his removal from the party, in a case that underscores deepening internal tensions within the opposition movement.
Court documents dated April 29 show that Siso withdrew the application filed under case number HCBC487/26, including his founding affidavit and draft order. He also agreed to pay legal costs for both the Citizens Coalition for Change and its self-styled secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu, who were cited as respondents.
Siso had approached the High Court earlier this month, arguing that his removal - communicated through a February 13, 2026 letter from Tshabangu - was unlawful. The letter also announced the appointment of Kudakwashe Matibiri as interim treasurer-general.
However, speaking after withdrawing the case, Siso attributed the move to procedural issues.
"There is a strong reason why I withdrew my case for now, some technicalities concerning my affidavit," he said. "The fight is not over. I will come back again to do the refiling."
He acknowledged the legal challenge he faces, noting that Tshabangu is backed by a team of experienced lawyers.
In his original court papers, Siso argued that his dismissal violated the party's constitution. He cited provisions which he said place authority over the supervision and removal of office bearers with the party's national council or president—a position currently vacant.
He further argued that he was neither served with a formal charge sheet nor given an opportunity to be heard, describing the process as a breach of natural justice.
The withdrawal leaves the dispute unresolved, with indications that the matter could return to court once Siso addresses the cited technical issues.
