The newly appointed ZBC board chairperson, Dennis Magaya, has been fired barely 24 hours into the job.

Recently the weekly Financial Gazette revealed that Magaya, a business strategy consultant who was controversially appointed by State-owned ZESA Holdings' subsidiary Powertel Communications in 2012, is earning a monthly salary of about $44 000.
Powertel Communications engaged Magaya on a fixed-term contract which commenced on September 1, 2012. The contract will run up to August 31, 2015. Magaya is currently pocketing a monthly salary of $25 176,64 plus a bonus of $18 610,12 which translates into an annual amount of $528 000.
He is entitled to this package up to August this year, and will be eligible to an upward review that could run up to the end of his contract.
Previously, Magaya was earning a monthly salary of $26 000 and a bonus of $13 140,59 under phase one of his contract which ran from September 1, 2012 to August 31, 2013.
Magaya was engaged by the company to implement a five-year business plan he drafted for Powertel through his company, Rubiem Technologies.
Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo appointed an 11-member board chaired by telecoms entrepreneur and ICT expert Dennis Magaya to spearhead restructuring and turnaround of the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation.
Moyo dissolved the old board following revelations of fiduciary shortcomings that led to, among other issues, payment of mega packages to some executives and non-payment of salaries to ordinary staff for seven months in 2013.
Yesterday, Moyo said the new board members were appointed to ensure ZBC had the right skills mix to make it commercially viable and technologically sound.
Apart from chairman Magaya, other board members are: Ndabezinhle Dlodlo, Phyllis Johnson, Gelfand Kausiyo, Donald Khumalo, Joyce Jenje-Makwenda, Charity Manyeruke, Rudo Mudavanhu, Father Gibson Munyoro, Cleopatra Matanhire-Mutisi and Blessing Rugara.
