Man hangs self at in-law's home

A MARRIAGE ended tragically in Seke recently when a distraught man hanged himself in his in-law's home following a bitter divorce from his wife. Dominic Mugebe (34) hanged himself at the residence of Esnath Mabika's parents. Esnath Mabika, the wife to the deceased, discovered her husband's dangling body at 0100 hours at her parents' house when she was coming from a funeral.
Dominic had earlier told the damsel in distress that he was going to fix her for divorcing him. In a statement with the police, Esnath said she had been Dominic's wife but their union had soured because of his violent nature. "Dominic used to beat me up for no reason," she said.
As a result of this she had decided to leave him and moved back to her parents' home in Rusirevi Village she revealed While there, Dominic came and begged her to reconcile with him but she refused. His last visit was on December 20 last year but Esnath told him she would return on the condition that he pay lobola to her parents.
"He told me that he was going to fix me for divorcing him," Esnath continued. Dominic's body was taken to Chitungwiza General Hospital where a post mortem was conducted. The cause of death was stated as asphyxia by hanging. A sudden death docket was compiled and brought before the Chitungwiza magistrates' court for an inquest. It was ruled that no foul play was suspected and that Dominic hanged himself.
