STEALING $100 from her 'catch' landed a Sakubva lady of the night in court after she was arrested in connection with the offence.
Juliet Madanda (28) who also uses the trade name, Melody Makoni, denied the charges when she appeared before Mrs Sekai Chiundura for contravening Section 113 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.
Madanda told the court that she did not steal $100 as alleged, but only took $55 from her client Joseph Rupiya.
Mr Donald Mudadirwa prosecuted.
It was the State's case that on March 29, Madanda was hired for a one-night stand by Rupiya at Gwinyai Bar in Sakubva. They agreed on a $10 charge which was to be paid before they retired to bed.
"At around 9pm, Rupiya took Madanda to his friend's place in Tenderere where she disappeared with his $100 as he was fast asleep," said Mr Mudadirwa.
Although the case was adjourned to a later date, moments later, Madanda was dragged back into the courtroom, this time bearing a different name 'Melody Makoni'.
She was facing a similar offence of stealing from her client.
She clarified to the court that the name 'Melody Makoni' was her trade name, while Juliet Madanda was her real name.
She was accused of stealing a Nokia C1 cellphone from Moses Mukwai.
"Mukwai took Makoni to his house in OTS Sakubva where she later disappeared with his phone after Mukwai was asleep," said Mr Mudadirwa.
She was convicted on her own plea and was sentenced to four months in jail, three of which were suspended on condition of good behaviour and that she restitutes the complainant.
