A 35-YEAR-OLD woman from Bulawayo has been found dead in a pool of blood, with a deep gash on the head in her rented room in Nketa suburb. Police are looking for a woman whom the deceased introduced to her landlady as her uncle's girlfriend in connection with the suspected murder.
Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Abedinico Ncube said the body of Silibaziso Ndlovu, also known as Brenda, was discovered last Friday at around 10PM.
"Investigations are underway. I can't give a comprehensive comment right now as it may jeopardise investigations," said Asst Insp Ncube.
Ms Margaret Mathe, the landlady, told The Chronicle that one of her daughters stumbled on the bloodied body. "Ndlovu was found with one shoe on. It looked like she was hit hard with something on the head while she was dressing," said Ms Mathe.
"My three children were home and one of my daughters discovered the deceased when her sister had come home to visit her." She said on Thursday evening, Ndlovu came home with a woman whom she introduced as her uncle's girlfriend.
"She didn't tell us her name. On Friday morning the two were together as Ndlovu did her house chores.
"At around 10AM, the two left home for an unknown destination but were not seen upon their return. Later on, the two took turns to bath in Ndlovu's room.
"One of my daughters who was last to leave home said she knocked on Ndlovu's door to notify her that she was leaving for school. The unidentified visitor is said to have slightly opened the door and peeped through. She then told her that Ndlovu was busy," Ms Mathe said.
She said when her children returned from school they found the main door wide open but Ndlovu's door, which is the first one in the house, was closed.
"At night when Ndlovu's sister who usually comes and sometimes sleeps over, came to visit. She sat in our lounge and one of my daughters went to check on Ndlovu in her room. When she opened the door, she saw her lying in a pool of blood," said Ms Mathe.
One of Ndlovu's relatives, Ms Sambule Sibanda, said the woman could have taken the deceased's two cellphones. She said she had no idea who the woman was.
"We're clueless as to who the woman could have been. Brenda had a huge gash on the head. We suspect this woman who was last seen with her knows what happened to my niece.
"Whoever killed her is ruthless. We pray police find leads to arrest the monster. No weapon was found but we hope something can be found to point to the suspect," Ms Sibanda said.
