Mbanje woman fails to pay fine, goes to jail

GURUVE - Drug dealer Sinodia Jacob (36) who was nabbed on Sunday for possessing cannabis (mbanje) at Pembi Chase farm in Mvurwi, was slapped with US$100 fine or 30 days in prison yesterday (Monday) by Guruve magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka.
The prosecutor Mazhindu Mazhindu told the court that on Sunday the 13th of November Jacob was found with 23 twists of cannabis under her pillow in her bedroom hut by Mvurwi Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and was nabbed.
Jacob admitted guilty to the charge but could not pay the required fine hence she was left with no option than to go to Kachara prison in Guruve.
Cases of drug abuse have become the order of the day in Zimbabwe.
