Mthwakazi Republic Party is set to hold its first campaign rally in Matabeleland South, after the rally was officially cleared by the unpredictable Zimbabwe Republic Police.
Party's spokesperson Mbonisi Gumbo said the rally will be held in Matobo North Constituency, precisely at Gwandavale business centre on Saturday the 10th of June 2017 at 10:00am.
"Hundreds of locals are expected to attend. The Matobo North Constituency has been neglected for a long time by the Zanu PF ruling party. After 37 years of the so called independence, there are still no roads at all such that during the rainy season, school children do not go to school, sometimes for months because of flooded rivers. Even the sick are not spared either, because Mtshabezi hospital is in Gwanda North and there are no bridges to go there," Gumbo said.
"Pregnant women are forced to give birth at home during the rainy season. In Matobo North and the rest of Matabeleland we still have both primary and secondary school kids who walk between 10 and 25 kilometres a single trip to school."
Gumbo said people in the area are poor and don't have any income generating projects, yet the available jobs are being taken away from them.
MRP President Mqondisi Moyo who is set to become the MP for Matobo North, has pledged that his first priority would be to see the Matopo National park employing local people.
He will also make sure that Masiye camp which is run by the Salvation Army which was officially opened by NPP President Joyce Teurairopa Muruju, who by then was the vice President to Robert Mugabe in Zanu PF government, it is Joyce Mujuru who brought non Ndebele speaking people to come and work in Masiye Camp which to us was the the implementation of the satanic Shona 1979 Grand Plan against our people.
"It is either Masiye Camp employs locals or they close the place, because it is not serving the interests of the locals," he said.
Moyo also said, the Bakalanga, Ndebele, and Sotho people who are predominantly the majority in his constituency will be protected, and he will make sure that their cultures are protected as well.
Moyo said he will make sure that only teachers who can speak local languages are deployed in his constituency. He further stated that the Matopo National Park has been neglecting local people for a long time and that has to come to an end.
"We are encouraging our people who are 18 years old and above to register and vote MRP. People from Matabeleland should shun Harare parties who do not serve their interests at all. Moyo said those of us who still think that our solution is in Harare are lost and they need to wake up and smell the coffee. The solution to Matabeleland problems is in hands and together with MRP we will do it. Konke sizokulungisa," he said.
"Everyone of us is invited to officially attend this important gathering, which is only the beginning as plans are already in place to hold yet another rally in Gwanda North this month end, as we prepare for the Gwanda town road show. All members of the Matabeleland South provincial executive are also expected to attend in full."
