Yet to be identified suspects invaded the Njelele Rainmaking shrine on Friday night and attempted to blast the main rock covering the cave at the shrine before destroying traditional pots and regalia kept at the shrine.
A concerned villager said the intrusion of the shrine was discovered by the Njelele caretaker who alerted the traditional leaders and other villagers on Saturday and a visit to the shrine was conducted to assess the damage.
Reports say the villagers found out that the suspects were using the mining explosives in their attempt to blast the carve but failed to obliterate it.
They said what the criminals managed to do is to destroy the pots and regalia kept in the carve.
The villager said the matter has been reported to the police and investigations were ongoing to establish who the criminals are.
Details of what could have transpired are still sketchy though evidence shows that the bombing using explosives was done.
