A new upmarket hotel has been opened in Victoria Falls ahead of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation General Assembly slated for August this year. The five-star Victoria Falls de Luxe Suites

opened its doors on November 20, and brought in a new generation of uncompromised comfort, through a choice of 14 in-dividually designed suites that give ultra comfort.

There might be other hotels in Victoria Falls that might look architecturally superior but in terms of comfort, interior decorum and reception, the hotel has brought a new impetus that will leave lasting memories on any discerning tourist. It is in a class of its own.

The hotel has a presidential suite that can easily compete with any hotel in the world, two deluxe suites and the rest are standard rooms, designed and dressed for personal comfort and luxury.
The rooms are air-conditioned to international standards.

The hotel is part of an indigenous company, Khanondo Safaris, the proprietors of Guest Paradise Lodge, Good Memories Lodge in  Victoria Falls again and High Mount Lodge in Bulawayo.

Victoria Falls de Luxe Suites general manager Mr Ben Tesa says the set-up at the hotel was meant to give a new generation of comfort and hospitality in the resort town, famed the world over for its tourism tapestries - the gushing waters of the falls, teeming wildlife and good people.

"We have set our own standards in the tourism and hospitality industry. We have made every effort to make a difference. Our rooms are designed to give the customer maximum comfort.

"Each room is en suite, has individualised satellite decoders, with 24 channels each, coffee or tea-making facilities and ultra comfort furniture. We are a lounge and a bar. I believe we compete favourably with any hotel in the world," said Mr Tesa.

Last week, Mr Tesa took the tourism and hospitality industry family on a tour of the hotel facility, and also hosted Zimbabwe's top musicians Alick Macheso, Jah Prayzah, Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave, Sandra Ndebele and Sulumani Chimbetu, among others.

"I had never known that we have such a comfortable new hotel in Victoria Falls. It is in a class of its own. I have been to hotels in many places in the world but this one is just  in a class of its own.

"It is clean, it is smart. Everything you look for is just there and not only there, but there in good shape and style. I even told my husband over the phone that he has never seen what I saw at this hotel," said Sandra Ndebele.

What makes the hotel fascinating is that it is part of the Khanondo Safaris and Tours that has a multifarious array of tourist facilities that making the hotel a one-stop-shop! While at the hotel you cab book for virtually everything.

The mother company runs adrenaline activities such as white water rafting, river boarding, kayaking, jet boating, high wire and bungee jumping.

It also runs soft water activities like sundowner and sunrise cruise, breakfast, lunch or dinner cruise on the Zambezi River. Fishing!

From the hotel one can also take a three-hour game drive in Hwange and Victoria Falls national parks. Full day excursion to Hwange, cycle tracks, rhino tracking and bush dinners are also on offer.

Then there is the guided tour to the Victoria Falls, helicopter "Flight of the Angels" and the Boma Dinner cultural experience.

There is no doubt that the hotel will have a lasting impact on the Victoria Falls beyond the UNWTO General Assembly. It is a typical challenge to the old hotels, whose structures now need sprucing up ahead of the indaba.
