A Gwanda man who beat up another man following a dispute over a prostitute resulting in the complainant losing front teeth, has been fined $200 or three months.
Gladman Mpofu (28) of 3848 Spitzkop North Extension in Gwanda Town was convicted on his own plea by Gwanda magistrate Mr Arafat Kozanai.
The State's case was that on 24 August at about 2pm, Mr Douglas Moyo was drinking beer at Cry Mantengwane Sports Bar in Phakama suburb.
When he was leaving the bar he was approached by two "ladies of the night" who asked for a lift.
Mr Moyo offered the two women the lift but before he could drive off, Mpofu approached one of the women who were already in the car and asked to hire her for the night but she refused.
Mr Moyo then told Mpofu that he wanted to drive off and this did not go down well with Mpofu.
A misunderstanding ensued between the two men.
Mpofu then assaulted Mr Moyo all over the body with fists and once on the mouth.
In the process, Mr Moyo lost his front teeth.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Mpofu's arrest.
Mr Edward Ndlovu appeared for the State.
