A lightning bolt ploughed through a grave of a person buried a year ago, leaving it open at a homestead in the area leaving villagers of Monde in Victoria Falls shell-shocked.
The bizarre incident took place on Saturday morning, leaving villagers in disbelief.
According to the Southern Eye, the incident took place during the rains which fell in Victoria Falls on Friday and Saturday.
Jeffrey Ngwenya, a relative of the affected family, confirmed that indeed lighting struck at the homestead, but disputed that it left the grave open.
However, a witness who spoke to the publication, who had gone to the village on business, said she had never seen such a bizarre incident in her entire life.
Meanwhile, four people died on the spot after being struck by a bolt of lightning as they sought shelter under a tree during a thunderstorm in Mukaka village, under Chief Maranda, in Mwenezi last Sunday.
The incident comes barely a fortnight after seven family members in Chief Mazungenye's area, Bikita, were killed instantly by lightning after it struck two grass-thatched huts they were in on February 2.
The incident occurred on Sunday at around noon when the now-deceased Shaiwai Mukuvashuro (29), Thangson Chimiti (29), Batanai Moyo (32) and Richard Chandavengerwa (33) were weeding in Phineas Shoko's field.
A bolt of lightning struck, killing the four and injuring the other two.
The deceased have since been buried after a Masvingo magistrate, Honest Musiiwa, waived their post mortem.
