CHIEF Siachilaba designate, Nonah Mungombe will be installed on Thursday this week in Binga.

Binga District Administrator Lydia Ndethi-Banda made the announcement at Manjolo last week during a tour of digitalisation projects by a delegation from the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services.

"You're all invited on Thursday next week for the installation of Chief Siachilaba," said Ndethi-Banda. Mungombe was named as Chief Siachilaba, three years after the death of his nephew Mackson Mudimba who died in 2010.

Mungombe's installation will end the five-year wrangle over the chieftaincy which involved Mungombe's cousins and uncles who were against his appointment.

Born in 1968 in Siachilaba, Mungombe of Nkalange Village, Ward 10, did his education at Siachilaba Primary School and Manjolo Secondary. He used to work for Main Construction Company in Harare in the late 1980s.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Sithokozile Mathuthu appealed to people of Binga to vote wisely in the upcoming council election.

The elections on April 2 in Lunga Ward 1 area in Chunga follows the death of Councillor Saina Mutanga last year.

"In Binga we lost a Zanu-PF councillor and elections will be held soon. I hope you will again vote for a Zanu-PF candidate," she said.
