Like Judas Iscariot did to Jesus, Chamisa has sold out his people for money

One of the most devastating texts in the whole Bible is when Judas Iscariot sells out Jesus to the authorities which leads to the Crucifixion of our Lord and Saviour.
Luke 22 details the episode: "Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve (Disciples). And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. They were delighted and agreed to give him money. He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present."
As a result of this, Judas Iscariot becomes one of the most despised figures in our Bible. Not only did he betray Christ, he did it for money, for financial gain.
Like everything in the Bible, it is meant to teach us some very important lessons.
First and most importantly, that while monetary bribes will enter our hearts like Satan and try and persuade us to do terrible things, we have to be good, strong and Christian and repel this evil because we know that accepting it will lead to destruction and mayhem.
Unfortunately, MDC leader Nelson Chamisa had such a moment, and it seems as if he failed his Christian duty.
For some time now, Chamisa and the MDC-T which he leads have been financially sinking through waste and bad management. This was dealt a devastating blow when a court ordered Chamisa to give his opponent Thokozani Khupe almost $2 million that was intended for her party.
Around the same time, seeing a devious opportunity, Robert and Grace Mugabe flashed a $2 million purse in front of Chamisa in order to save the MDC ailing campaign.
Chamisa had a choice to make.
On the one hand he could have taken the moral and ethical decision to reject and refuse money from those who had beaten and battered our country for decades, who had ruined everything good in Zimbabwe. It might have been a difficult for the campaign but at least he would have held his head up high and stood his ground.
Unfortunately, Chamisa took the other option. He immediately took the money, with barely a second thought or regret, and accepted all the strings attached.
Now it seems as if Chamisa has paid a very high price for selling out Zimbabwe, but it is one that apparently he didn't take very long to decide on.
Chamisa sold for the sum of $2 million his vice-presidential pick and other positions that the Mugabe have greedily and cunningly demanded in return for their pieces of silver.
It is unclear why Chamisa made this decision, whether the Satan entered him, or was just a hard cold decision. Either way, we know where this story leads, to chaos and destruction.
As an MDC supporter I am devastated by this betrayal. I truly believe that even if we had lost, I would have supported Chamisa to the end of his days for refusing the support of Robert and Grace Mugabe. Some things are not worth winning for, and if the MDC wins for the Mugabes it is better that we lose so we might save the whole of Zimbabwe.
We know from our Bible that Judas eventually repented for his act and even tried to return the money, but it was too late, the act was done and the repercussions endless.
It could be that one day Chamisa will regret this act of betrayal for money, but it could be too late and his regret will seem relatively meaningless if the Mugabes are once again wreaking havoc on our nation.
I hope I have it in my heart to forgive you then Nelson Chamisa, but at this point I can not for what you are doing to us.
