Long live Comrade: Constantino WaChiwenga

22 Oct 2018 at 06:47hrs | Views
On July 1, 2018, Vice President Chiwenga exhorted people at a rally in Hatcliffe to stop paying rates until the council improved services like refuse collection, water supply, and sewer reticulation.

While the Vice President was accused of political expedience, his wise advice presents the biggest challenge to all Zimbabweans of worthy to take care of their affairs. It has been three months since the VP said those wise words and the councils have not done anything to improve your services and no one has stopped paying rates.

This leaves me with a question: Why are we still paying rates to city councils? There is no running water in most Harare suburbs anywhere so even if the councils threaten to switch off the water, what does that matter? The water is not running anywhere.

People of Zimbabwe, the right behaviors, and the right reaction make all the difference. Growing up, I used to hear this slang that people who live in Harare were magen'a, meaning people from Harare were smart and people in rural areas mabharanzi, meaning us people from the rural areas were dumb. I wonder where the smartness is when varume vakuru nevakadzi vakuru vakachena everywhere are being manipulated by kombi and tucks hop people.

Why would people queue for bread honestly? And all the fuel queues are always along the highways. If you observe carefully, the fuel queues are not simultaneously in Mutare and Masvingo road; it is always one or the other. What are people missing? Can't you see this is stage-managed? Why are there no bread queues in Borowdale?

Magen'a take hid, importantly listen to the wise words of VP Chiwenga, stop being manipulated by mahwindi, stop making unnecessary queues, and don't buy from the streets or tuck shops. Let the businessmen keep their products and you and you keep your money, no amount of regulations will help you.
