The demise of Ximex mall should be investigated

07 Mar 2021 at 13:23hrs | Views
Ximex Mall was bought by the late property developer Sam Levy who converted it into a car showroom and a department store in the early '60s and later bought by NSSA as part of the pension fund investment and in 2013 it was demolished for a proposed construction of a 11-storey building whose design is not in the public domain. It is now eight years since the demolition of Ximex Mall and its turning into a car park.

Surely where in the world does anyone make a decision to demolish a building that was generating revenue for NSSA's pension fund and prefer to collect revenue from a single floor parking lot. Zimbabweans who are contributors to the national pension fund, there is definitely something wrong with the decision to demolish the mall and replace it with a parking lot.

Please can we investigate the whole process that led to the demolition of Ximex Mall. What was the motive? Who was involved? Where in the world does anyone demolish a multi-storey building and build a single storey car park.

This is definitely criminal and should not be allowed to happen again. Let's start rebuilding good Zimbabwe's infrastructure that will last 100,000 years.
