'Didymus Mutasa vomiting utter rubbish'

06 Jun 2015 at 16:09hrs | Views
DIDYMUS Mutasa, who has established himself as the Mujuru cabal spokesperson, fails to understand that his continuous statements in the public domain are no longer of substance as people are now quite aware that whatever he says comes from someone who has a score to settle with the Government in general and ZANU-PF in particular.

It is clear that Mutasa's political grandstanding is now in its twilight, hence, his continuous churning of unsubstantiated statements is just meant to make him remain relevant in the political sphere.

People should not take him seriously on whatever he says because he is someone who has lost touch with reality.

Mutasa's claim that he is now supporting the MDC-T's boycott of the pending June 10, 2015 by-elections and on the other hand saying that he supports all the independent candidates for the same by-elections shows that he is confused. Mutasa cannot come out supporting MDC-T's boycott of by-elections and on the other hand says that he supports the independent candidates which is counterproductive in its reasoning aspect.

How could Mutasa support the MDC-T's boycott of the by-elections as if this opposition party has done something good to democracy? Instead of supporting the MDC-T's boycott of the by-elections, Mutasa should be blaming that party for its move to destroy democracy. The MDC-T's boycott of the by-elections is nothing to applaud for as it is something which rightful thinking people should criticise. The MDC-T's boycotting of elections is aimed at assassinating democracy.

Mutasa should remind the MDC-T that the electoral laws which are operating currently were drafted with an input of the MDC-T when it was part and parcel of the Government of National Unity (GNU). So there is no need for the MDC-T to go on boycotting by-elections when it participated in the July 31, 2013 harmonized elections using such electoral laws.

Mutasa, as a seasoned politician, should not stoop so low to the extent of supporting such stupid moves by the MDC-T unless he has lost sanity.

It is surprising that Mutasa goes on to claim that the MDC-T's boycott of the by-elections is applaudable because state security agents are going to participate in the by-elections while the Zimbabwe electoral Commission (ZEC) was doing nothing about that. According to Mutasa the boycott is good because the participation of the state security agents in the by-elections would not be good for the outcome of the elections.

What a shame and a lot of confusion from someone who should be in the position to tell the public the role of state security agents. Mutasa should stand guided by the Zimbabwean Constitution which does not discriminate against individuals. Mutasa knows quite well that it is a fact that everyone has got a right to vote and this right has no boundaries. State security agents are Zimbabweans who have rights to vote when such elections are held in the constituencies which they are registered to vote. So Mutasa's claim that elections could be tainted because some state security agents would also be participating in such by-elections shows that he has lost touch with reality and is seeking political sympathy from some of the confused people like himself.

In actual fact Mutasa, who is the former Minister of National Security, knows quite well that even during the time when he was there, security agents were allowed to participate in any elections.

The problem with Mutasa is that he assumes that people would take him seriously yet they are quite aware that he is someone trying to seek political relevance. For more than three decades, Mutasa was within Zanu-PF ranks and he was found to be on the forefront of denouncing what the opposition would have said. Now that Mutasa is among them (the opposition), he wants to make himself seem cleaner than thou.

He should realise that cheap politicking would never make his dwindling political career to be on the mend. Mutasa lost it all when he and his cabal decided to go against the revolutionary party's ideals as they allegedly plotted to assassinate and remove President Robert Gabriel Mugabe from power.

Now Mutasa is getting what he bargained for.

Anywhere people should not forget that only in April 2015, Didymus Mutasa stunned everyone when he claimed that his failure to have his papers accepted as Zanu-PF candidate for Headlands was much to do with Zanu-PF which was directing the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) on how that Commission should operate. Mutasa claimed that ZEC was always under the directorship of Zanu-PF, hence, his failure to be accepted as a candidate.

It was surprising for Mutasa to come up with such allegations when he knew quite well that Zanu-PF had no power to meddle in ZEC affairs. For those who are quick to forget, Mutasa was in government as well as in Zanu-PF for over three decades and knows quite well how Zanu-PF operates. So it was surprising for Mutasa to come up with such claims as a way of seeking political sympathy from people when he knew the whole truth.

Such behaviour, which he exhibited in April 2015 when he wanted to confuse people while knowing quite well that he was no longer a Zanu-PF member and filed his papers representing the revolutionary party which had given him the boot, is similar to these latest claims about the issue of the state security agents.

So people should now stop listening to what Mutasa says because they might end up confused and misled. People should know that nowadays Mutasa is good at vomiting rubbish which has nothing of substance.
