Tsvangirai its time to hang the boots
29 Sep 2015 at 10:38hrs | Views
The recent break-away by Morgan Tsvangirai's Chief advisor, Maxwell Zeb Shumba, from MDC-T to from his own political party dubbed Zimbabwe First (ZimFirst), is clear indicator that Tsvangirai has become a persona non grata on the political landscape.
Tsvangirai is a classic instance of a failed politician who is propelled by blind hopes. He failed to keep the party intact since its formation in 1999.
Since then there have been incessant break-aways into numerous fragments which could not achieve any meaningful political impact in the country. So far it has been dumped by Professor Welshman Ncube, Job Sikhala, Tendai Biti, and now it's Shumba, and who is next to defect?
The same trend also applies to its pre-existing grass-root support base which shifted drastically to other sound political organisations like ZANU-PF. Its political fortunes have been waning at an alarming rate rendering Tsvangirai a tired and clueless political movement whose only viable option at the moment is to hang the boots and pave way for others to run the affairs of this crumbling party.
Unfortunately, Tsvangirai is driven by gross arrogance and an amazing lack of vision and adequate intellectual capacity to enable him to make sound and informed evaluations. He finds himself as the only one who is ever correct, and capable of running the affairs of the party as its life president. He is a dictator controlling a democratic entity as he prefers to call it, despite it being a perfect antithesis of the same.
Opposition politics is not for cheap and dull minds such as those resident in Tsvangirai's skull. This is the mere reason why even his all-weather sponsors had to dump him and withdraw all the funding. It was an expeditious decision which they took after it dawned on them that he had no capacity to satisfy their interests in this country. Their continued sponsorship of his political activities was synonymous with wasted investment. In this vein, donors dedicated their cash elsewhere leaving him in the cold.
This move made him recede into pathetic pauperism type of life-style as he could hardly afford to buy his personal family groceries. He became so desperate to extent of requesting each party member to eco-cash at least a dollar per month to cater for his upkeep which was endangered by the untimely departure of party donors. He was used to squandering money which came in a silver platter with no drop of sweat. He has an ugly record for going crazy with promiscuity as he went for joy-riding with various women that he enticed by flashing cash that was tossed by donors.
This unbridled engagement into reckless sexuality compromised his public image and pushed away a significant number of his votes. This partially explains why he suffered a crushing defeat to President Robert Gabriel Mugabe of ZANU-PF on July 31, 2013 harmonised elections.
Up to this day Tsvangirai has lost political relevance on the local political landscape. Voters dumped him for his deficit on alternative policy bankruptcy.
