'We can kill two birds with a single stone', Chicken Inn set to gun down Bosso

CHICKEN INN have declared that they are looking forward to killing two birds with one stone when they play host to city giants Highlanders in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter with the Gamecocks moving the match to Barbourfields Stadium.

The epic encounter is on Sunday and the Mandla Mpofu-coached side want to capitalise on the poor performance by Highlanders at the venue that has seen them drop a massive 11 points so far this season after losses to Motor Action, How Mine and Chicken Inn before Sunday's draw against a resolute 10-man Caps United.

"We need money and points hence our decision to move our match to Barbourfields Stadium which is more spacious than Luveve Stadium.

Last time we played Highlanders at Luveve Stadium a lot of problems were experienced in terms of crowd control," said Chicken Inn secretary Tawengwa Hara.

He said they will work hand in glove with Highlanders on the gates to ensure a smooth process unlike on previous occasions. Highlanders' gate management style is one of the best in the league with few if any hassles when getting in.

Gate charges have been increased to $5 for the rest of the ground, $10 for the wings and $15 for VIP.

"It's no secret that when you play Highlanders it's a big chance to make some bit of cash and for our case, we not only want cash but maximum points which is why we are saying we can kill two birds with a single stone," said Hara.

It will be a rare double over Bosso if Chicken Inn manage to achieve their target and a first by any club in more than 10 years but what could give the Innscor Africa bankrolled side some imaginary hope is that Highlanders have not been at their best at Barbourfields Stadium.

Even the club management is worried about their performance at Emagumeni with club chairman Peter Dube telling members during the extraordinary general meeting on Sunday that they were looking at the issue together with the board.

"It's something which we are extremely worried about and are working on, together with the board," said Dube.

Both teams will be missing key players who will be away with the national team in Zambia for the ongoing Cosafa Castle Cup. The home side will be without leading scorer Tendai Ndoro and dribbling wizard Kudakwashe Mahachi while on song goalkeeper Munyaradzi Diya, the sole reason why Caps United did not go back to Harare with maximum points on Sunday as well as Masimba Mambare, who has really not risen to the heights that saw him getting on the Soccer Stars calendar last year, will be missing in the Highlanders line-up.

The Bulawayo derby has a potential of determining who will be the leader of the standings after the weekend matches although that will also depend on the result of the Harare City and Monomotapa match set for Rufaro Stadium tomorrow.

Harare City are at the top by a single point while Monomotapa are ninth with 22 points and are still not so safe from the chop. With average players save for the national team duo of goalkeeper Max Nyamupanedengu and Silas Songani, Bigboy Mawiwi has managed to surprise even the greatest of critics.

The absence of the duo however will have a huge bearing on their play and their importance can not be over-emphasised especially after the club made an unsuccessful request to Zifa to withdraw them from the Cosafa squad.

Still not safe from relegation, Hwange welcome a rising Caps United whose players have been quoted in some sections of the media saying their sights were now fully on the league title.

Their resilience against Highlanders when they were a man down showed the quality in the team but Hwange might be a totally different host than Highlanders. Despite losing to log leaders Harare City 1-2, the team is still on cloud nine after their 4-1 mauling of the same team at the Colliery in their last home match. The home team supporters and indeed the players would take it from there and go on to defend their home territory with all it takes. An exciting match is certainly on the cards.

Statistics are in favour of the Nation Dube- coached coal miners who have lost to Caps United only once since 2010, a 0-2 defeat in Harare this year.

FC Platinum have an easy home match against firm relegation candidates Motor Action at Mandava Stadium.

Coming from back to back league defeats, defending champions Dynamos are once again face to face with Buffaloes who handed them their first loss in the league this year knowing fully well that another set of dropped points will spell disaster to their campaign.

DeMbare are slowly earning themselves the cry babies tag after they came out mourning the alleged poor officiating by referee Hardly Ndazi in their loss to How Mine at Luveve Stadium on  Saturday. A majority of their supporters on the day in question conceded defeat and instead blamed their team's lack of ingenuity.
