Zimbabwean joins Indian second division soccer team

FORMER Highlanders FC striker, Simbarashe Gate has signed a one year contract with Indian second division side, Mohammedan Sporting Club, making a return to the club that rejected him three years ago.
Gate confirmed over email that he is now settling at the club following the move that was facilitated by his Indian agent, Belal Khan.
The former Mwana Africa striker said he arrived in India last Sunday and was looking forward to doing well when the league kicks off on 26 March.
The Kwekwe-born striker started his professional career at the now defunct Lancashire Steel before turning out for Mwana Africa, Zimbabwe Saints, Highlanders and Masvingo United in the local Premiership.
This will be his second stint at (Mohammedan) Kolkata as he once joined the club in February 2013 but the contract fell through as then Mohammedan coach Sanjoy Sen opted for Moroccan striker, Younes Baltham.
"I am happy with the reception so far, I feel like I am at home. I am looking forward to settling here and my colleagues have been welcoming," said Gate.
In 2012 Gate turned out for Mozambican top side Ferroviaro Nampula where he finished with 14 goals while last year he was with another side in that country, Club Desportivo de Nacala.
Founded in 1891 at Kolkata, Mohammedan is one of the oldest and leading football clubs in India and also plays in the Calcutta Premier League.
According to Wikipedia, It is Mohammedan is one of the most popular football clubs in India with a support base in all parts of the country.
Mohammedan was the first Indian Club to win Calcutta League in 1934 and continued their run till 1938 season.
Before Independence, numerous triumph against British teams earned the club huge support from all Indian.
However it has recently faced financial problems and nearly went under in 2014.
