Kenya on Sunday beat Zimbabwe 29-17 in the Confederation of African Rugby Division 1 final in Madagascar.
Kenya started off strong against the defending champions racing to a 12-0 lead before a series of penalties from Lenience Tambwera brought Zimbabwe close, to within a point of the Kenyans 15-14 at the break.
Zimbabwe continued to toil in the second half against the powerful Kenyan forwards. The east Africans more got into the Zimbabwe 22 four times but the southern Africans held on.
With 30 minutes left in the match, Zimbabwe took the lead for the first time again from the boot of Tambwera again but the Kenyans came roaring back scoring two converted tries to win the match.
The Kenyans deserved the match on the balance of play mostly because of the way they simply made less errors. Their forwards were sharper and fitter than Zimbabwe's.
For Zimbabwe there were too many handling errors and lack of belief going forward.
