FMH Academy 1 - 0 Bantu Rovers

Ajax Hotspurs bite the dust as Highlanders Academy lands in highlands after beating Hotspurs in their own back yard to arm twist championship aspirations in their favour on a day Bantu Rovers were also taught a football lesson by impressive but humble FMH Academy at the Municipals.

Dubbed the championship decider, defending champions Ajax Hotspurs under 16s failed to come to party as Highlanders held fort defending well and trying to hit Hotspurs on the counter and they were duly rewarded for their patience when they won a corner which was swung into the box and Godfrey Matemera defied odds jumping high to nod past 12 year old Reward Muza.

That was the tonic that Highlanders needed to be the first on the score-sheet and put Ajax Hotspurs under pressure. Velile Siziba tried to push forward in search of an equaliser and he was brought down by the Bosso gloves man when he was going for the kill and the referee rightfully pointed to the spot. Siziba a hero against Bantu Rovers when he changed his boots for gloves to save Chrispen Ncube's spot-kick dusted himself and took responsibility. He dispatched his spot-kick to the left with the keeper diving to his right but his trailing leg saved the penalty much to the anguish of Siziba and his teammates.

The miss seemed to take the zest out of Hotspurs players as they resigned themselves to an imminent loss and allowed Bosso to take the game into their hands as Hotspurs started making a lot of mistakes with stray passes. Samuel Madamombe remained the shinning light for Hotspurs as he tried every trick in his bag but was not fully complemented by his peers and when an immaculate strike from Musa sailed past Muza Bosso were grooving and Hotspurs anguished. What a game and the two sides are now tied at the top with Bosso taking over the leadership on goal difference with a game in hand.

In the under 14s the two sides played out a tense goalless draw that was pantuated by hard tackling by the youngstars as the two sides tried in vain to outrun each other. This gave Bantu Rovers the defending Champions in this age group but they were rocked by ever improving FMH Academy who robbed them of victory at the death in a six goal thriller 3-3 it ended. Bantu Rovers who scored two injury time goals to rob Ajax Hotspurs of victory to force a 2-2 draw found FMH Academy in no mood for favours. The Methembe Ndlovu owned side were whacked for three and had only one in reply as the Famona based side gave them a 3-1 hiding to further dent their title aspirations.

Highlanders have been living it late in their under 18s to win their games and yesterday they seemed destined for a nil-all draw against Ajax Hotspurs in a game of few chances where a midfield battle was tense as each side seized control of the department in flashes but Highlanders were the hungrier of the two battling sides. The champions elect moved the ball around with greater zeal stroking it vigor and verve but they could not find a way round Ajax Hotspurs defensive pillar Strydom Mdlongwa who gave a polished display all-round. In some instances they found the way round Mdlongwa, Vincent Chidembo was unyielding in goals twice coming out to save Ajax Hotspurs blashes. With everyone resigned to an imminent draw Highlanders had other ideas. Prince Mpinju Hlabangane quiet by his standards went hunting down the channel for Ajax Hotspurs leaving three defenders sprawling on the hard surface. Hlabangane coiled well to shoot and his powerfull drive was cleared from the line and caught Hotspurs on the counter two minutes into injury time. Prince "Mdawini" Ndlovu had all the time to clear the lines for Ajax Hotspurs but he dillydallied with the ball and Mgcini Sibanda robbed him and sent a center into the box which got stuck between the defenders legs and former Zimbabwe Under 15 youth international Lucky Ndlela stole the ball and toe poked it past a diving Chidembo to sent Dumaza Dube into ecstacy. It was sweet victory dug from deep rocky wells and there was reason to for Dube and his technical team to celebrate wildly for they have carved victory from the tough echelons against an Ajax Hotspurs side that has proven hard to beat this season. Hotspurs was rocked, Mpopoma quiet and Bosso celebrating . What a befitting icing on the cake for Highlanders.

Meanwhile defending Champions Bantu Rovers were on a receiving end in the under 18s as Bright "Nyonyo" Dzowa led FMH Academy tore the form book into shreds to hit a stunner past Bantu to all but seal the championship for Bosso who also needed a late winner deep into injury time through Lucky Ndlela. What a season Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Junior League Serie A is proving to be.
