The Welshman Ncube led MDC has welcomed Harare High Court Judge, Bharat Patel Tuesday judgement endorsing the law professor as the legitimate party leader.
Last year former party national chairman Joubert Mudzumwe and 13 other members challenged Ncube's legitimacy after he was put at the helm of the party at a congress held in January.
MDC deputy spokesperson, Kurauone Chihwayi said after the judgement, "Ncube is the MDC president. We were confident as it was clear that congress was legitimate. It was a matter of sour grapes on the part of our colleagues and they will continue to be embarrassed. They have a right to take the matter further but have been confident and innocent."
The 13 activists aligned to Professor Arthur Mutambara, replaced by Ncube as party leader at the congress wanted the court to nullify the congress.
In November last year, Bulawayo Judge, Lawrence Kamocha ruled that Mutambara was not a principal in the Global Political Agreement in the escalating battle for control of the party.
Mutambara appealed the decision in the Supreme Court and the matter is yet to be heard.
