The City of Bulawayo has announced a citywide blitz targeting motorists and informal traders who have violated traffic by-laws or failed to pay outstanding fees.
In a public notice issued by Town Clerk Christopher Dube, the municipality said it will enforce Statutory Instrument 220 of 2023 (City of Bulawayo Clamping and Tow-away By-Laws), focusing on vehicles fined for loading and offloading passengers at undesignated spots—particularly buses, kombis, and pirate taxis.
"Those who have not cleared their fines will have their vehicles towed to a storage facility," Dube warned. "They will be required to pay tow-away and storage fees to reclaim their vehicles."
The blitz will also cover informal traders operating at designated vending sites and bays. Dube urged them to settle all outstanding annual licence fees and monthly rentals immediately to avoid disruption of business operations.
The operation aims to restore order and ensure compliance with municipal regulations across the city.
